A general update (stitching)

So here is what ELSE I have going on! LOL!

Two Mill Hill beaded Christmas ornaments - Peace and Believe. I am already done the cross stitching on Believe and have started the beading. I am still doing the cross stitching on Peace. I have 2 others in this series, and I plan to buy the 2 that I don't have.

Two of the 15 (yes, 15!) angel ornaments from 101 Clothespin Angels by Leisure Arts. I think I will do all the cross stitching first, then go back and do all the backstitching later. Oh, then that third shot is of what I called "The attack of the dollpins!". It's the 15 dollpins that I need for the 15 angels. I painted the eyes on the pins (you know, getting ahead on things!), and stuck them on a cardboard box to dry. I put that in our bathroom - gotta get it out of the way of a curious toddler!

And last, but certainly NOT least, Monopoly. I do this for one week, then "Through a Father's Eyes" for 2 weeks. So, not much progress, but some progress!

For now, I am not working on Father's Eyes or Monopoly. I want to get all the stitching done on the angels. Once I get that done, I will go back to my 2-week/1-week rotation, while working on the angels one night a week, unless I hit a brick wall and need to work harder to get the angels done for Christmas. Once Father's Eyes is done, I will finish Monopoly, and work on Christmas ornaments or another small item. Once Monopoly is done, I *plan* to work on only UFOs and Christmas ornaments till I get to my 2 old UFO's that are big. Once I get to that point, I will work out some other rotation to get other stuff done. I really need to stop all these starts because I end up with too many WIPs and UFOs! I decided that I am done. I may not finish things off (like frame them), but I can do all the stitching, and put that aside till I find something to do with it!

Not stitching related

I had a parent-teacher conference with my daughter's teacher at day care. What an experience! She's doing well, but she's sensitive. She gets upset or frustrated easily (sounds a lot like me!). Other than that, she's on track and developing quite well. That's good news! I was worried that she was being bad at school. But, alas, she isn't! She does do things that the other kids do (climbing on tables!), but that's normal development. So I do feel better about how she is doing when she is away from me!

Thanks for reading my blubbering! I plan to have a cross stitch update tonight (since DH is away for the night). I have lots to post - I still need to take pictures of some of my stuff, too!

TTFN!

Finally, a new post - with pics!

Just a short update on Through A Father's Eyes. I said I wouldn't post another pic till I got the Father and the Bride done. Guess what? After ALLLLLLLL this time, I finally did it last night! WOO HOO! YAY! So, here are two pics. One is the whole piece so far (1/2 done!) and the other is a close-up of the bride.

Thanks for looking!

UGH! Blogging practice needed!

I see that several people are following my blog. How, in the great name of the world wide web (there's a term you don't hear every day!), do I get to those blogs? When I click their names, I just get some info about those folks. That's great to see, but I want to get to their blogs!

Blogging is something that takes practice, obviously!

Thanks if you can help!

Sorry - I have been bad

I haven't been posting as often as I would like to. I've been busy, and lazy.

Really quick - I have made some awesome progress on "Through a Father's Eyes". I hope to finish page 2 (of 4) before our anniversary in May. I just might! WOO HOO!

I finally stamped the leaves on the 2 Thanksgiving day projects that I made. Now, I just have to frame them. I plan to try this all by myself for the first time!

I need to finish the baby birth sampler - the lil dude was born almost 2 weeks ago, so I need to add his name and birthdate. Then, just put it in a store-bought frame.

I am making great progress on a Mill Hill Christmas ornament.

Sorry this is so short - and late. I will make every effort to post a longer update, with pictures, later this week.

Short, pictureless update

Since Dad got sick, I have been in a funk, and haven't stitched much. Dad is doing much better. He's been home for more than a week, but he can't go to work just yet. He's bummed. Really, he is! Finally started to get back into the stitching groove again. Very little done on Monopoly. I am back to "Father's Eyes". After some frogging (GRRR!), I am back to stitching away. It's starting to look great!

I also started another small piece (yes, that makes how many WIP's now?!). I will post a longer update this weekend.

Thanks for reading! Take care!

Not much to report

Well, not much progress on anything for the last few days. My Dad got sick the other day, so I spent some time at the hospital with him, plus I had some other stuff to do this past weekend. I will update my blog with pics, etc. when I have something more to report. Sorry for the lack of updates this week.

On another note: DH and I have been talking the last few days. I have been wanting to mention to him that I would like to start a business. A small one. I would love to design CS, maybe even make some small handmade items to sell. I hadn't even mentioned it to him. He suggested that we start a business together. WOW! He even suggested that I open a CS store. Not sure if I will do that, but.....we still have a lot of talking to do. I'm sure we will come up with something. He also mentioned that one or both of us could write books. I started a novel, but haven't touched it in ages. Plus, I have considered writing children's books (rather short ones, but books all the same!). He would rather write something else (not sure what, tho). Anyway....we have some more talking to do before we decide anything.

Until later...

Here is a pic!

OK, here it is - finally! Yes, I know the quilt was only a small portion of the whole piece, but it was a major milestone for me. Plus, I didn't have to frog a single stitch! YAY!

And a pic of the whole piece when I was done with the quilt!

Thanks for looking!

YES! I got the quilt done!

I just HAVE to post! I promise to get a picture up later this week, but I FINALLY got the quilt done on "Father's Eyes"! I can't wait to finish this piece. It's a bit slow going because there are a ton of color changes, but it is coming along quite nicely. I am enjoying it more now!

Stay warm and safe!

Just a short note...

Just a short note about this past week. All 3 of us at home have been sick with a cold. I fell asleep at 8:30 one night, so I never got to stitch that night. I am almost done with the quilt on "Through a Father's Eyes". I have about 20 stitches to go yet, which I HOPE to finish tonight. If I do, I will post a picture later this week. After that, I don't plan to post any more pics of it until I am done page 2. I haven't done much else in stitching lately because I have been busy at work. Hopefully I will get around to doing more stitching at lunch later this week, or next week.

Until later, have fun and be safe!

Update with pictures

Here is an update with pictures:

My Monopoly board. I started working on the outline and the large color blocks at the top of the property spaces. This seems to be making progress seem to come much faster!

My Thanksgiving piece, 1 completed, 1 more in progress. The pattern called for just the words "Give Thanks" to be stitched, and for you to stamp other words - things that you are thankful for. I decided to stitch, since it seems to be so much fun! I am using a varigated DMC thread. I love the way it looks when it is stitched!

Through a Father's Eyes. You can start to see the outline of the father and daughter now. This is still page 2:

A beaded Christmas ornament - Mill Hill bead kit. There are 6 in the series. I would love to do all 6, but I will likely do only 1 or 2 this year. This is Believe, and I also have Peace. I need to get the other 4.

Following blogs???

Oh, I noticed that several folks in my online stitching groups have blogs, and they follow other blogs. If it's OK with you, I would like to add your blogs to a list that I follow. That way, when folks visit my blog, they can easily find your blogs, if they wish to continue reading about stitchers. And, I can have one place to check out all your blogs!

On that note, can someone help me figure out how to do that? And, if you wish, you can follow my blog with a link on your blogs. Like I said, any help that anyone can offer is appreciated!!!!!

A small update - pics to follow this weekend, hopefully!

I have to get some pics up here, but here is my update - short and sweet!

I finished "Irish Blessing", a freebie from Leisure Arts. I plan to frame it and give to a good friend, since she's Irish! Ijust know she'll love it!

I finished 1 of my Thanksgiving projects, "Give Thanks", another freebie from Leisure Arts. Well, I finished the stitching. I still have to wash it and stamp it (the pattern calls for some stamps in the shapes of leaves, like Fall leaves, in whatever Fall colors you choose). I used a varigated color, rather than a solid color. I LOVE the way it turned out! I have one more to stitch yet. That's a quick and easy pattern to do!

I took Monopoly home, where I will stitch it from now on. It was getting to be too much to have here at work, at least for now. I have decided to stitch the outline entirely, then the color blocks at the top of the property spaces. Then, I think (not totally sure just yet) I will do the hardest spaces first, or at least do them for as long as I can handle! The corners, Community Chest, Chance, railroads, and utilities (and maybe the tax spaces, too) seem to be a bit more of a challenge to work, so I figure I should probably do those first, so that when I get to the "regular" property spaces, I will just fly through those, and be able to finish by stitch the logo and the places for the Comm. Chest and Chance cards in the middle.

I have made some great progress on "Through a Father's Eyes". It's a bit tougher than I imagined (especially when you have to frog quite a bit - YUCK!), but it's coming along quite nicely. I had to put it down the other night, and look at it from across the room, just to see it. I think it looks fabulous from across the room!

I also started a small Christmas ornament. A beaded one, no less! I haven't done any of the beads yet. This is my first time working with beads, and I am soooo excited! It is "Believe", one in a series of 6 from Mill Hill. If I like it enough, I just might have to do all 6!

I did find something to use for wings for my Clothespin Angels. I found a great website, http://factorydirectcraft.com/. They have some wings for me, so I will have to order them soon. I also need to get halos, but I will have to work on that. I might get those little gold rings that you can use for party favors for a wedding. I just have to see if they fit the tops of the clothespins.

OK, so my short update ran a bit longer than I thought it would.

Thanks for reading!

New look

I made some changes to my blog. For all you stitchers, yes, it's a frog! I figure if I keep him here, he will stay away from me while I am stitching. Let's hope it works!

I hope to post a new stitching update this weekend!

A pictureless update!

What have I accomplished so far this year?

I did a birth sampler for a friend. The only thing missing is the name and birthdate. The little dude hasn't been born yet!

I made some more progress on Through a Father's Eyes. Did some frogging last night, but I hope to get a lot more accomplished tonight. I will post pics when I get a little further along.

I started working on a cute little piece for a friend. It's an Irish Blessing, a free pattern at www.leisurearts.com. I will post pics later. Not much done, but for the amount of time I spent on it on Sunday, I did get a fair amount acccomplished.

I haven't stitched Monopoly in almost 2 weeks (GASP!). I have been busy at work, and working while I eat. I hope to get back to it later this week or Monday at the latest.

Other than that, not much has happened in the stitching world. I promise to post pics at the end of the month. I think that's how often I will post progress pics here. I may change my mind....

Thanks for reading!

2009 Stitching Goals

Here are my stitching goals for 2009:

1) Complete "Monopoly" - at work, since it's a surprise for DH! Hoping to finish in time for Christmas, even if I have to get it framed after Christmas!
2) Complete "Through a Father's Eyes" - DH knows about this
3) Complete a birth record for a friend of ours - she's due in March. I am working on the backstitching now, and will leave the name and date out until the baby is born!
4) Do a quick freebie from Leisure Arts called "Irish Blessing" for a girlfriend of mine
5) Do two pieces for Thanksgiving - another freebie from Leisure Arts called "Give Thanks". One is for our house and one is for my Dad's house
6) Do a Nativity scene - monochrome pattern. I can't remember the designer's name, but I got the pattern from my LNS. The kit can be found at www.thestitchery.com. I have just the pattern.
7) Do all my Christmas ornaments - from 101 Clothespin Angels from Leisure Arts.
8) Do a Valentine's Day card for DH - heart patter in current edition of "Just Cross Stitch". It's a perforated paper heart that is stitched, then attached to the card. I don't think I will do it exactly as they have it in the mag, but I think it's a great idea!
9) I would like to make a few Christmas cards. I think I will use some of the patterns from the angels, since some of them are cute Christmas scenes!

Once I get done "Father's Eyes" and "Monopoly", I think I will do mostly smaller patterns for a while, with one pattern just for me. I like the freebie fractals that Cross Stitch Collectibles offers. I have several of the patterns, and I think I will have to do one for myself once I get this list done!

Well, this is it for now. Happy stitching!
